This weeks it’s again just a quick update on what I’ve been up to.

What I’ve been working on

  • UI: remove adder text buttons

Getting rid of this button was long overdue. I still have to work on the UI copy though.

  • Mentioning

One could previously only select the first suggestion when tagging / mentioning another block inline. I added mouse and keyboard navigation, plus the functionality to create blocks inline.

  • Various fixes and other tiny changes

  • Setting up the production database with the new schema

What I’ve been thinking about

As I’ve written about previously, I still struggle describing Formable in a couple of sentences. I have been thinking about it a bit this week. I’m currently coming at it from 3 sides:

  • Use cases of the first version: Selling how Formable can help users /
Words that would go into marketing material

  • Vision
    Where I imagine Formable going

  • Concepts

Writing about the general concepts behind Formable.
Formable should be usable without knowing all the concepts behind it. Doing so would still help though and thus such texts could help as educational material.
But it wouldn’t just help Formable. Some ideas could be picked up by others and mixed into other apps.

I’d be happy if you’d be my accountability partners on getting some words out besides this newsletter.

I’ve also been encouraged by Alexander Obenauer this week to get more into writing. (Thanks for the chat Alex!)
If you’re interested in tools for thought you should definitely check out his lab notes.

I’ll leave you with that for today and will now start planning my next week in private.

Cheers,
Emil
