47 // Formable Mobile App
Since Formable is so domain-unspecific, it’s going to be hard to build a mobile UI that will work for everyone. Would one even want to build filters on mobile?
I talked about some options on how to integrate with other apps last week.
In my opinion it’s ok if the mobile experience is more closed. Mobile has always been more closed and less configurable. You don’t even really get to see the file system on mobile OSs.
That is of course somewhat against Formable’s principles. We want easy usability, but still want that customisability.
I could imagine enthusiastic users becoming low/no-code developers of their own mobile experience. That work could be done on the desktop, like normal mobile development, but directly from within Formable.
Somewhat like that ball in a hole iPad game I loved in 2010/11—Labyrinth.
You’d work with the more complex UI on the desktop and than get the end experience on your iPhone or iPad.
I love the camera work in that video by the way, and the music of course.
Do you know any similar experiences or other analogies, where one uses a desktop platform to customise their mobile experience? Does anything like this exist besides proper app development?
